Certainly another good example of the power of internet communities keeping the B5 universe going and attracting new interest along with reinvigorating old fans. Some of these projects are mods to pre-existing games, which has resulted in fans of those games finding the B5 mods and then wanting to watch the show on tv or buy the dvds. Like many I was not happy when sierra cancelled the official B5 game back in 1997 so I was thrilled when I discovered a few years back that fans had started making B5 games and mods of their own! These games have incredible attention to detail recreating many of the ships, characters and stories from the B5 universe or telling new stories, all while capturing the atmosphere, look and sounds of the show. Plus I'm wondering if all the Babylon 5 fans out there know about some of the great fan game projects out there keeping the B5 universe alive? Until then there is still out forum where discussions and development is done.I’ve 'travelled here' looking to engage the various Babylon 5 communities to help me build an ever improving list of B5 related games out there. The moddb page still exists and when I think that the rebooted project is ready to be made public I will bring the old page back. Meanwhile there also isnt any bad blood anymore. I got everything back but decided to keep everything Continuum related deactivated while I was finishing my work on Crossfire in order to let the situation calm down. Unfortunatly after a few weeks of development a 3rd guy started to hijack the project including the moddb profile and most of my work. I came up with the idea to make this new project a sequel to Crossfire (since the ending of Crossfire 2.0 would have clearly allowed such an option) and the name Continuum was the perfect name I had in mind. A pretty talented 3d modeler contacted me (I guess you have seen the rendered stuff) and asked me to help him to build a different kind of Freelancer (where everything is a bit different - like in an alternative timeline). The stuff with Continuum back then was unfortunate. If you know of a game series I've missed that's very similar to Freelancer, a fan game based on Freelancer, or a large scale mod project related to Freelancer please let me know! Starflight Series - If Freelancer was a top down 2D game with planetary mining & more aliens then it would be Starflight! An awesome classic space exploration, combat & trading series. Elite Series - The original space combat & exploration series that inspired them all! Zigfrak - Space shooter similar to Freelancer SpaceForce: Rogue Universe - Space shooter similar to Freelancer Starpoint Gemini Series - Space shooter similar to Freelancer Rebel Galaxy - Space shooter similar to Freelancer Galaxy On Fire Series - Space shooter similar to Freelancer Eve Online - Massive online multiplayer space shooter similar to Freelancer Everspace - Very similar gameplay & graphics to Freelancer (made by Galaxy On Fire team) DarkStar One - Space shooter very similar to Freelancer X Series - One of the greatest space combat & exploration series out there Wing Commander Privateer Series - Chris Roberts original series that inspired Freelancer Star Citizen - Chris Roberts next big Freelancer style game Freelancer 2: Continuum - A standalone fan sequel being created by the Crossfire Team Rebirth Mod - Huge MPlayer expansion to Freelancer Shadow of Fear Mod - Huge MPlayer & SPlayer expansion to Freelancer The Void Mod - Huge MPlayer expansion to Freelancer ![]() Discovery Mod - Huge MPlayer expansion to Freelancer Crossfire Mod - Huge MPlayer & SPlayer expansion to Freelancer Large scale mod projects that expand the story So if you’re not nostalgic for old retro websites with music, animating gifs & left click browsing then you probably won’t like it)įreelancer related game projects list (Updated ) : (Note: Originally built in 2001 this website is still deliberately very late 90s early 2000s retro in design. This is my latest summary of the website list below. I could use some help from the community with this list as I'm sure there's more I don't know about. For that list I collected pics, vids, demos, and information for as many of the projects as possible. Long story short, in 2014 I created a Freelancer section on my oldschool retro website paying tribute to the original Freelancer games along with the great many successful & sadly unsuccessful Freelancer related fan projects out there to make sure that they are never forgotten and can inspire talented Freelancer fans to create new Freelancer projects in the future. I'm looking to engage the various Freelancer communities to help me build an ever improving list of Freelancer related games out there. Hey guys! First time poster, long time lurker.
